What I’m Most Proud We Built This Year

As Head of Product, I spend most of my time thinking about one thing: are we actually making benefits easier to use and easier to manage. Not just theoretically, but in the moments that matter. When someone needs health care or to pay for their groceries. When a benefits leader needs answers. When dollars are on the line.

In 2025, we made meaningful progress toward that goal. While this is not a comprehensive list of everything we shipped, it reflects the five releases I am most proud of the team for. Each one ties back to themes we kept coming back to all year: visibility, faster resolution, and smarter tracking of benefit spend.

For Employees

Clearer Benefits, Fewer Dead Ends

At Benepass, we understand that employees don’t want to decipher benefits. They want to understand what they have, what to do next, and trust that things will work when they act.

1. Smarter Benefits Homepage

This was foundational. The redesigned homepage brings instant clarity to funds, deadlines, and required actions, eliminating the guesswork that often comes with benefits. Employees can immediately see available balances, upcoming deadlines, and the next best action to take, all in one place. By prioritizing what matters most in the moment, we help employees engage with their benefits confidently and reduce confusion, missed opportunities, and unused funds.

Released April 2025

2. Greater Transparency for Claim Denials

Denials should never feel like a dead end. Instead of a generic, unhelpful message, employees can now see the most relevant denial reason based on their spend type and employer rules. This creates what is effectively an unlimited set of deeply contextual explanations for why a transaction wasn’t approved. Employees can easily reclassify a transaction under the correct benefit when eligible, review additional context, and recognize purchases through stylized merchant logos. The result is clarity, faster resolution, and fewer support interactions when something does not go through.

Released December 2025

For Benefit Administrators

Visibility That Prevents Problems Before They Start

Administrators, or HR leaders, are often asked to solve issues without clear insight into what their employees are experiencing. This year, we focused on proactive visibility and tools that help teams stay ahead.

3. Customizable Reporting Cadence For Administrative Insights

Every benefits team operates differently, so reporting should adapt to how HR leaders actually work. Today, administrators can access up to 20 on-demand reports in their Benepass portal.  Now, they can also choose how often their preferred reports are sent, straight to their work email. Reports are delivered securely and are structured for HRIS and payroll workflows.

To support deeper insight, we also introduced in-depth administrator visibility reports. Among these are three new reports that surface login activity, HSA enrollment completion, and transfers and adjustments. Together, these tools give teams immediate visibility into benefit engagement and account health, making it easier to identify friction early and resolve issues before they escalate.

Released May 2025

4. Employee Experience View

When employees have questions, HR leaders should not have to guess what they are seeing. With new employee impersonation functionality, administrators can securely view benefits exactly as employees experience them, including balances, eligible benefits, and recent activity. This dramatically reduces time to resolution and builds confidence in every interaction, all without introducing privacy risk or exposing sensitive personal data.

Released August 2025

For Everyone

Smarter Spend With Shared Accountability

Some of the most meaningful progress happens when employees and HR leaders move forward together.

5. Direct And Flexible HSA Investing

Beyond medical spend, employees can now invest their HSA funds directly within Benepass with no redirects, no administrative fees, and just a $125 cash minimum to begin investing. Employers choose the investment lineup to match their company philosophy, while employees decide how much to contribute and invest. It is long-term financial wellbeing, fully integrated into the benefits experience rather than bolted on as an afterthought.

Built To Scale Responsibly

What I am most proud of this year is not just what we shipped, but how we shipped it. We leaned on the ingenuity of our product and engineering teams and applied AI thoughtfully, always with human oversight, to scale responsibly and solve problems that have historically slowed benefits down.

This is the direction we believe benefits must go. Clear visibility. Faster resolutions. Smarter tracking of every dollar.

And we are just getting started.
